I was looking at a website that sells combs and plates for the Crossover model and there are two types of comb listed. Long slot, and short slot. Other than the blatantly obvious, what is the difference?

Lower keys will have longer reeds. Evidently they're making combs to fit both long and short reed sets. They could just make the long size, but by using a shorter chamber for shorter reeds, they're making air usage more efficient.
From the low keys up to Db, you need the long slot. Short slots might inhibit the reed's motion.
From D up, you could use long slot, but short will probably be more efficient.
