lvl 1 questions
Hello, David. Have some questions on lvl 1
1. What is the proper way to get rid of expta air on harmonica. I'm especially interested on how to do that in exercises 1.12 & 2.1. There are lots of inhales but almost no exhales or some space in rithm to breathe out :(
2. I can't figure out how should i practice moovment exercises without mastering bending technique, and what percentage of practice time should i spend on them.
Thanks for your time and for the great cource/
I'm glad that it helped.
As you're playing do you feel like too MUCH air is traveling in and out of the harmonica?... like you feel winded after playing for just a little bit?
Or, as you're playing you feel like too LITTLE air is traveling in and out of the harmonica?... making you feel like you're oxygen deprived?
Okay, this is not an uncommon feeling. This will get better with time. Play in shorter bursts... as your body gets used to it, you'll be able to play for longer periods of time.
Hello KPIshnik.
1. The first step is to exhale before you begin. The next step is check to see if your nose is open while playing draw notes... if it is, work on developing the skill to close it. And lastly, open your nose on each blow note (the 2+'s in case) to get rid of air while you play (closing it again for the next draw note). I have a lesson on breathing here https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/breathing_harmonica
2. I assume that you saw to work on Movement Exercises here https://www.bluesharmonica.com/levels-of-achievement/level-1. Note that it says, "Just focus on the all-important C Major Scale right now, from holes 4+ to 10+ on the harmonica." So you're correct, no bending for you as of yet.
I'm glad you're enjoying the course. Keep the questions coming.
