Marine Band 101A video?
I was looking through the archives and saw mention of a video series to customise a Marine Band. Did you ever film it? I can't find it in the equipment section.
Thanks.
Hello Kinya,
In your bluesharmonica.com harp tech video series you refer to a clever technique for removing Marine Band cover plates that are nailed. In the tape you say you will explain the technique in one of the upcoming segments. I didn't catch it while viewing your lessons (1 through 7).
Is it explained in the Harp Tech series? Or should I be looking elsewhere?
Much thanks for the wealth of useful information you continue to provide!

Hi L2
The solution is simple and super cool! Check it out:
Used in automotive work (and available at most Auto Parts Stores), the tip of the Retaining Ring Plier actually opens by closing the handle (working in reverse of a typical set of pliers).
Insert tip of pliers into corner cover plate opening, then simply ...
Squeeze the handles together, then VIOLA--pop goes the nails! Repeat on all four corners.
Psst. Don't tell anyone, but you can safely pop the nails from the comb/reed plates by inserting this tool into the holes of the mouthpiece--damn brilliant, really ;o)

Thanks Kinya! Looks like a great technique. Can't wait to try it out.
And for once, it employs a tool I already have!

Hi Kinya,
Please, please include in your Marine Band 101 videos a good way to close AND smooth out the open edges of the cover plates. You know ,on the front right and left side. were it gradually opens and contacts the reed plate. I've heard people complain that this catches mustache hairs but for me its a lip grater. I moved away form the Special 20 and avoided the marine band for this reason. the only fix i know was to add JB weld and then liquid glass in that area to remedy the problem for me. I play the Crossover cause it is closed there so there must be a way.
Please, I beg of you dear man;)
Thanks,
Mark
Relax my friend. David and I feel your pain.

Hi Dave, Marine Band 101A has not been filmed yet. We intend on working on this project in 2016. Thank you for your interest!
