Mark Hummel
Hi, Dave. Last night I saw Mark Hummel and his band Blues Survivors at The Turning Point Café, a small club in Piermont New York about an hour North of Manhattan. I had first heard about him on bluesharmonica.com. The music was absolutely fantastic, made more enjoyable because I had watched most of his videos. His demeanor with the crowd was wonderful and his playing was breathtaking, technically and, more important the notes he was playing (and not playing). I suppose I felt like a beginning guitar player watching Eric Clapton up close: while I could never, and should not ever expect to, play like Mark, working with you and practicing every day has given me an appreciation for the art which I would not have otherwise had. My limited but hopefully attainable goal is to just come up with a clean note, and I have not started learning how to bend, much less develop and execute a riff like Mark did. Another reason to enjoy your classes. Thanks. David Menken.
Mark definitely is amazing! Not only in his own skills, but also what he does for the blues harp community in general. He is instrumental in keeping the art alive and helping mere mortals such as myself have an opportunity to see/hear some of the greats. I'm still looking forward to the time when I finally get to see him.
