Masterclass Weekend
Wow, wow and wow!!!! Another great event and set of experiences at this first class set of workshops and "concerts" (like blow outs). And the greatest thing was meeting many of the people on this site and putting faces to names. Thanks to all of you for making this as special as it was!! And a special thanks to David and his crew (Dennis!! plus all the others) for a memorable experience. It was sad as the last workshop was finishing to realize this was the last one but maybe an annual "bluesharmonica members get together" would be worth considering??? I understand David has plans to put some video of different parts of the weekend on the site so keep your eyes open.
Thanks again to all of you!!
Very kind... pleasure to have you!
I was sorry to have to miss out on this. I've been to other Harmonica Masterclasses in the past and always enjoyed them immensely
David extended an invitation to me to come and hang out, but to my sorrow I was too busy to come see good friend friends and bask in the enthusiasm and learning atmosphere.
Next year? . . . . . .
Just a shout out of praise for your hard work David.
I was already a big fan of your book/CD combos and DVD collection and practiced everyday out of each one in succession according to the template on the back of each book. I had just completely finished Classic Chicago Blues Harp #1 when your website came out. During the past 13 months prior to the website I had been making adequate progress (in my opinion). But I was never too sure if my pulls were really where they needed to be,or if my bends were really as good as they should be, if my rhythm was okay, and etc. I would listen intently over and over and over again to your examples and then compare my recordings, but frankly it was evident your tone and expression of notes (dynamics?) even at a quick pace left much for me to learn, and still does.
However I have truly started to make much, much quicker and substantial progress since the introduction of this website and also find it an incredibly addictive learning journey. More importantly, I know why......
Before this website, all learning was done in isolation. Always asking myself, has anybody experienced frustration with bending or pulls? Is there something wrong with me because it is taking so long to get the rhythm down? And the list could go on and on.
But with this website we see Joe and what he is experiencing, a forum where we can communicate and ask about other peoples experiences, all those incredible interviews which give insight into the journey's of even today's greatest players, the contributors, your detailed chorus by chorus lessons and you even give insight on how long it will probably take to learn these things (finally I know its okay that it takes awhile), and more importantly...........personalized feedback. Blues players no longer have to learn in vacuum and good playing is now within anybody's reach who is willing to practice just a little bit each day.
Thanks for such a great "hands-on" educational tool available to a lot of people all the time, at a click of a button!
