hi David,
Do you think it is better to use the same model of harp across keys? i use quite a mixed bag and i sometimes wonder if it would be better to use a single type. but then, i think maybe its good to adapt. sorry if this seems a frivolous question, just occurs to me sometimes when i see a bargain-priced harp of whatever ype...i wonder if i would be better to choose a type and stay with it
thanks, Dave
Hey Dave. It only matters if it matters to you. It's very difficult for some and not difficult for others to adapt to playing different models.
The challenges are in size/shape, how the harp plays, and its tuning (what formula it uses for tuning). The later is the most important. If you play a 3 draw on a Golden Melody and then play a 3 draw on a Special 20, there's a big difference in the tuning (they are both still the note B, but the special 20 is many cents lower on the Special 20 than on the Golden Melody). When you play 3' on either harp you'll need to bend deeper for one than the other.
If you're asking which is better, then no doubt it's better to play one model only.
