Mic Review

I'm sure it's already in the "equipment review" forum, but I can't find it. It would help if the forum had a key-word search capability. Question is: What do you think of the Audix Fireball mic? It's what I have. Seems to work well, but I have nothing to compare it to. I've never used or even touched a "real" bullet mic. Thoughts?
Hi Jon
You'll find the review on the Mic Reviews page at https://www.bluesharmonica.com/mic_reviews - I didn't post that URL because you have to subscribe to BluesHarmonica.com to see it - but clearly, you do!
The Audix Fireball is a nice acoustic mic. It is very clean. Basically a drum microphone, it is designed to tolerate extreely high sound pressure levels WITHOUT distorting - so cupping it makes almost no difference in its tone. Personally, I consider a mic to be part of my "instrument" and I really LIKE being able to change from a clean tone to an overdriven one, and get deep, expressive "wah"'s - The Fireball is NOT good at that. Some people want cean only in order to send a clean signal to a digital multi-effects pedal- the Fireball may be a good choce there.
