microphone used to record Barrett video lesson
You probably use a camcorder to record your video lessons on this site. The sound is very good and yet you are at some distance from the microphone. When I record t home, I must be very close to my PE588 or Shure JT-30 mic, or the sound volume falls off rapidly and I end up with a weak recording. What microphone will allow me to be at some distance from the microphone, the further the better, and still pick up my harmonica playing? I do not, in general, want to hold the microphone while I'm practicing and making baseline recordings.
You are correct, I use the camcorder, which has an onboard omni-directional condenser mic built into the body. My iPhone does a great job for basic audio recording (using the built-in memo app) and so do the basic handheld digital recorders like the Tascam (DR series) or Zoom. If you're plugging your microphone into your computer to record, then a good-quality omni-directional condenser mic will most likely do very well for you. I have not bought a condenser mic in a long time and am unfamiliar with the models to recommend, but if you stay above the $80 price range you should do well.
