Missing windsaver

Gday Winslow.
Upon inspecting my chrometta the other day I noticed the windsaver for the one blow/draw had curled up. Genius that I am....I decided to cut it off not knowing the effect it would have
My chromatic is now more airy and I was wondering (price being an issue, with little to no techs where I live) what I might do to replace it? Is it possible to cut some sort of material and glue it in place instead?
Thanks
You can buy valves from various sources. One of the more economical ones:https://rockinronsmusic.com/products/dees-breath-max-valves-includes-16-...
Making them is tricker. The material has to be stiff enough to stay close against the reedplate when not played, but flexible enough to be pushed or pulled away from the slot when air flows through the reed. I'e experimented with making valves with medical tape and very thin mylar, but it's more trouble than it's worh. On the other hand, I've heard reports of people folding things like clear packing tape to istelf (for thickness but also so the tape doesn't stick to the slot.
