Most Efficient way to Compose my 5 Chorus Forms
Mr. Barrett:
Thank you for your time.
I'm studying Improvising Study I - Chorus Forms.
My assignment is to compose and record each of the five chorus forms for your review.
Following your suggestion, my composition will consist of licks and fills borrowed from our study songs.
I'm trying to think of the easiest way of "copying" selected licks and fills from a study song PDF and then "pasting" the selected licks and fills onto blank staff paper, so I'll have a written version of my chorus forms to practice and record from.
It seems inefficient for me to use a pencil to draw each note of my chosen licks or fills onto blank staff paper and do that for all five choruses.
Please could you give me advice on how to most efficiently "copy" my licks from a study song PDF and "paste" them into a blank sheet of music for practice and recording?
Maybe there's an easy to use software that will help me or I'm overlooking some other easy way to write down my 5 chorus forms.
Please forgive my total lack of knowledge in this area. Thank you for taking time to help me.
Britt
You can also download a snipping tool onto your computer that you can use to outline, copy and paste whatever is on your computer screen into a Word document. I use it at work all the time and now I’ve been using it to copy and paste different kicks I like from the PDFs onto a google drive document.
Thanks AndrewKern
Can anyone recommend a good snipping tool? FYI, my desktop is an iMac and tablet is an iPad so Apple compatiblue apps are preferred.
@david- No problem!
@aceventura - I use Windows and I basically just googled “snipping tool download” and then downloaded the first option that came up. But I found this link that talks about snipping tools for Mac so hopefully it’s useful: https://www.apowersoft.com/snipping-tool-for-mac.html
Thank you.
Hello Britt. Most students get a blank sheet of paper and hand write (hole numbers only) the lick, and any other licks associated with a chorus. Another effective way to do it is to print out the sheets with the licks on them (multiple printouts when a lick is used multiple times) and physically cut and paste them onto a blank sheet of paper.
