Never look a gift harp in the mouth ...
... but it's OK to PUT it in your mouth.
I have an email subscription to Lee Oskar Harmonicas' newsletter. With each newsletter there's a drawing of five names, for a free harmonica. I'm one of those "I never win anything" types, but lo and behold, all of a sudden I was a winner! And when after a few weeks of filling out the shipping info I hadn't received my free harp and I sent an email, I got a phone call from Lee Oskar himself, updating me!
I chose a key I didn't previously have in my kit: A Low F#. (Every so often someone calls for a jazz tune in Ab, and the Low F# works in third position.) It arrived just a few days ago. I own a number of Lee Oskar harps, mainly special tunings that I've picked up over the years for specialty numbers with the cabaret troupe I play with (e.g., a harrmonic minor tuning isn't something that gets called for often at a blues jam), and I've always felt that the Lee Oskars were a good harp with an excellent price point.
Of course, with this new one, the price point was perfect. Free!
Thanks Lee Oskar!
On the winning and on the call from Lee, wow!
