New Beginner
Mr. Barrett,
I am new to this instrument, and any other for that matter. I don't know anything about the instrument. Your lessons are extremely detailed and with that very complicated. I see multiple start points, many new words and visuals that really dont show me what to do. I am excited to play but I don't know anything about starting. It was recommended that I get a Horner special 20, "c" harmonica to staert learning on. Your lessons require a "a" harmonica. Whats the difference, if any?
Please advise in simple language as best as possible.
Thank you very much.
Allan
Mr. Barett

Hello Stuart, welcome to the site.
As a beginner, you’ll start with Blues Harmonica Fundamentals (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/blues_harmonica_fundamentals). These terms and techniques are taught in this lesson.
Tongue Blocking is introduced in that lesson, going into much more detail here https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/tongue_blocking_1
Let me know if I can help you further after going through these lessons.
I am new to the instrument, I am interested in a TBT but I live in the south of Mexico, how else could I practice my TB? my harmonica is in key C. I am having a little difficulty when it comes to taking advantage of the available material due to the language barrier, I hope in some future you can subtitle your videos either in English (because it is a little easier for me to read it than to listen to it) or in Spanish, thank you, I will continue to strive.
an apology for the grammatical errors, I'm using google translate to be able to type this
Hello yafte420h, welcome to the harmonica and the site. There is an intro lesson for those with only the C Harmonica, and it's found here http://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/c_harmonica_intro_lesson. After this lesson, if you decide to continue, you'll need to pick up an A Harmonica (this C Harmonica study will keep you busy for 2-3 months, so there's no hurry). I'm sorry about the language barrier... I hope you're able to get some use out of the. site.
Hello Allan. I replied to your email, but here's more info...
As a beginner, you’ll start with Blues Harmonica Fundamentals (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/blues_harmonica_fundamentals). After this lesson you’ll move on to studying two lessons at the same time… Tongue Block Study 1 (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/tongue_blocking_1) and Solo Harmonica Study 1 (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/solo_study_1).
As you work through your lessons, you can also watch two beginning students on camera work through the same material with me. These students are my wife Sharon Barrett (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/contributor/sharon-barrett) and Hob Bosold (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/contributor/hob_bosold). You’ll find their questions, and my answers to their questions, helpful in your studies as well.
