New player; custom harp. Should I ?
I'm tempted in buying a sugar cain custom harp because I think they look great and I hear good things about his work.
So I'm still struggling to get bends right ( I've only been playing for 2 months now and I'm secretly hoping a custom harp will make it easier XD ) and while I see the experts ( including my teacher ) bend no problem on say a special 20 harp; I hear and read that a custom harp will bend more reliably because every reed's been adjusted and it's quality is higher.
So my question is the following : Will I hurt my progress in the long run if I learn to play ( and bend ) on a custom harp? As in will I be able to do it on the custom but not on an off the shelf harp.
Regards,
Chris
You can't buy your way into bending.
Any good qualiy stock harp will serve you just as well as a custom when you're learning the basics.
As a beginner, youre not likely to experience the benefits of the fine adjustments that custom harps offer to the intermediate and advanced player. It may look better and make you feel good to own it, and those things are fine. But knuckle down and do the work on your technique.
