not enough air in order to breath....
Hello Everybody;
So this is my 3rd week in the class and working on ¨walk with me¨ The issue that I am having is that I can not draw enough air through halls 6 and up to be able to breath....like breathing though a straw. I did not have this issue when puckering. Maybe because of lickage and/or I also noticed that I have a tendency to breath through the nose....noticed this when recording... Is that normal? Thanks; Steve
Expert Winslow Yerxa,
I´m also facing the same problem. I try to breath throught the harmonica but the holes are not big enought to supply the necessary volume of air for my body. When breathing throught the harmonica I feel like that it is not enough to keep me confortable and alive, I need to use the nose otherwise I´m forced to interrupt the exercise to get air. I need some advices to develop this skills, would you help me please?
An example of this problem is when I do the playing chords exercise of this lesson: Playing Chords (Multiple Holes) of part 1
At some point, after about 10 draw/blow I need to stop due the ack of air, breath and then initiate again

Avoid breathing through your nose - if your breath is not going through the harmonica (that is, through your mouth) then it is wasted - it's leakage.
Sometimes it's OK to use you nose to regulate your air, if you have too much or too little. but most of the time your breath will last longer and your tone will be stronger and more focused if you don't nose breathe.
No sure what you mean by "lickage."
Also, on the high holes (actually on all holes, but especially on the high holes) make sure you are breathing deeply and gently from the lungs. Pushing and pulling air only from your mouth will not allow the reeds to respond easily. Keep your oral cavity and throat open to allow free movement of air.
