Good evening David,

When ever I've been writing my instrumentals I've slotting in your pick ups/transitions because I know that they sound right. But when come to analyse what notes to use in a pick I don't really know what are the best notes to use. An example of this would be the transitions/pick ups in Half Steppin. Why did you pick them notes. Is it just years of practice or is there a scientific method behind the explanation just as it is when certain notes fit certain chords.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Paul

Hello Paul. No special

Hello Paul. No special approach, they just sounded good to me... but yes, generally you'll use the notes of the chord/scale you're on or the chord you're going to.
