Presidents
According to a brief search there were 5 presidents that played Harmonica. Presidents Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Coolidge, Eisenhower and Regan. Reagan learned to play while recovering from his attempted assassination
Maybe I should have changed it to possesed a harmonica rather than played it. No youtube of Abe but I did find a rather poor one of Jimmy Carter apparently playing Georgia with Willie Nelson. The video is very poor but it does appear that Jimmy is a player but don't know for how long. Sounded pretty advanced if that is him https://youtu.be/CqG4X1p5sVc If it is him, what level of a player do you think he is? I am working on Lev 1 so everybody sounds good to me.
Found this on Reagan "Responding to a query about whether he was taking lessons, Mr. Reagan sent a fax that said, "Unfortunately, I'm not taking music lessons and probably should be. I've always liked the harmonica, but can barely play a tune. . . . I play for my own self-amusement exclusively -- usually when I don't have my hearing aids in."
Lincoln definitely didn't play any musical instrument, including harmonica. Poet and Lincoln biographer Carl Sandburg seems to have made that story up around 1925.
As to the others, maybe they did. But be aware that Hohner sent harmonicas to famous people just so that they could then cite them as harmonica playes.
