Question regarding Tongue Block Study song and technique
Hi David
I'm working my way through Tongue Block Study 1 and I've been trying to spend a lot of time so I can get this down but I have a question regadring your song "Walk With Me."
I'm starting to feel somewhat comfortable with tongue blocking while doing the exercise for blowing and drawing holes 4, 5 and 6. When playing Walk With Me and moving to the left for holes 1 and 2 in prticular, do you do the pucker technique? When you blow on the 2 hole, are you tongue blocking hole 1 or puckering over 2 and what should I focus on so I continue "starting out right" to avoid bad habits?
Thanks!
Chris
Hello Chris. I'm glad to hear that the TB is coming along.
Go to that lesson and look at Section 2 and look at the "Chorus 2 - “Walk with Me” Study Song" video. In this video I speak of how to deal with hole 1.
I personally do both for hole 1... I pucker it sometimes... I tongue switch sometimes. Work with the lesson and choose which way feels most natural to you (either is fine, though if they both feel equally comfortable, choose the tongue switch).
For hole 2, you'll keep your tongue to the left.
The rule of thumb is that the tongue stays to the left when playing holes 2 through 10 and you tongue switch for hole 1.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
