Rattling Chromatic

Hallo Winslow,
I have got the problem that my new chromonica 280 rattles on some of the holes. SomeIt sounds like buffering plastic. I have read that the valves can be the problem. Now I don't know what to do. Should I send it back to get a new one? Can I do something without opening the harp? I' m not confident in my ability to repair it and afraid of destroying it.
Can you please give me an advice what i should do?
Thanks and kind regards
Finnegan
The first thing I would try is warming the harmonica before playing it. Valves can chatter when not warmed up, espeically if moisture from your breath condenses as it enteres an environment colder than your body temperature. Some players put it in a ocket or under their arm, or use an electric heating pad. Or just play it until it warms up, periodically tapping out the moisture on your palm with the holes face down (do the slide-in holes, too).
Also, remember not to gunk up the valves with food or drink residues. Rinse or brush before playing, and don't eat or drink sticky beverages (beer, soft drinks) while playing.
If you don't find the valves settling down, get in touch with Hohner to arrange for service.
