Ready to Submit?
Hi David,
Not sure if you had answered this before or not, but when do you think is a good point to be "ready" to submit the recording for your review? I'm working on Gary's Blues and The Strut, as well as Solo Study 1 & 2, so I'm plenty busy enough right now, that's for sure.
I feel like I'm struggling or over-thinking my pulls and have watched your lesson and your work with Ryan over and over but only "think" I have the idea. I have most of Gary's Blues down, except for one chorus and a few tricky parts, so its almost there. I don't want to rush through the song, but I also want to make sure I've got the right technique and it sounds like what it should.
I know the song is never really "done" - I keep working on perfection in my technique for Feeling the Blues and Temperature!
Thanks!
Dennis
Generally speaking... you submit when you feel like you're ready to perform the song live. The recording process itself is a learning tool... it helps you to find weak passages and gives you the opportunity to really dial them in before sending them in. Students self-regulate their work in this respect... it's a great system/learning tool. I end up giving very specific comments on technique and some general musical comments.
If there's a situation, like what you brought up, then submit earlier... just playing the first two choruses and record directly into a clean microphone so I can hear your technique in all of its glory ;-)... this way I can help make sure you're on track.
