Recording
David:
I bought a USB microphone and installed Audacity - Audacity version 2.3.3 does not at all match the tutorial on the Equipment tab.
I have figured out how to record harmonica via the microphone with Audacity , but I can not figure how to record while playing the backing track.
Thanks
Okay. I understand, tech moves fast. Do ask in the General forum, there must be users of this program (it’s the most common recording program for PC users).
I have someone lined up to teach this. If all goes well, the lesson will be up in about a month.
Hi Fred, I use audacitity and pro tools first. With audacity just drag and drop your backing track into the centre of screen when you first open it. Once the track has loaded just hit the red record button and you are off
Thanks alpur
Hello Fred. I'm sorry to hear that the lesson is now out of date.
Unfortunately I don't own a PC anymore (Audacity is a PC-only program), so I won't be able to update the lesson. I'll start working on getting someone to do this lesson for me (I just emailed someone that may be able to do this), but in the mean time I'll take it down to not confuse anyone.
I assume you have the backing track imported to the session? If so, most likely all you need to do is record-enable the harp track, and the backing track will just play in the background as you record.
I'm sorry that I can't be of more assistance. It may be wise to post this on the General part of the forum, there are most likely BluesHarmonica.com students that use Audacity that can help. If you have no luck with more experimenting, and no one on the forum can help, I'll send some emails out to my private students to see if anyone has enough expertise with that program to help.
