Repetition (Again)

I was able to complete the songwriting exercise in LOA5 and I get the concept of chorus forms and repetition. But I felt like the 6 licks in my song didn't really relate to each other very well; they sounded like they had been lifted from six differrent songs. Shouldn't the concept of repetition apply to the whole song structure and not just the structure of the indivudual choruses?

As your vocabulary grows Dan, your choice of licks grow with them. Each song that you study will provide you with more licks to add to your overall vocabulary and when songwriting you'll have at your disposal more material to choose from to match a particular groove. In short, have a voracious appetite for learning songs... they will pay big dividends.
