Resistor value

Hi Skip, i was wondering what the value of the big dog bone looking resistor between the power tubes in the ga6 amp is , in the schematic it just says 200. I wanted to change it it looks like it's turning into sand. Also are all the resistors assumed to be 1/2w cause the schematic doesn't say anything. I have a mcgohan mg 20 amp and the photo fact schematic for it and that schem is really detailed , the ga6 one is the original manual that came with amp and hand drawn.
Hello Bluevan- The resistor you are referring to is the cathode resitor for the power tubes. The "200" on the schematic means just that- it is a 200 ohm resistor. The physical size indicates that it is a 10 watt unit. It is made with a fine coil of wire inside. As long as that wire is not broken the part will work fine. That "sand" on the on outside of of the resistor is insulation material. Replace it if you like, but I would sure like to know that the power tubes aren't running too hot because of some other problem in the amp.
Sam's Photofacts are by far the best schematics but they don't have one for every cool amp ever made. Also, it's time for you to get a groovy "project" amp to work on so you'll quit messing with that Gibson! You were born to solder........ I suggest a Kalamazoo or 70's Fender Champ.
