Roland MicroCube Amp Settings
Hi All,
I'd like to know what ya'll recommend for settings on a Roland MicroCube Amp. I've got a Green Bullet Mic but also just purchased a Shaker MadCat Mic. I know very little about amplifiers and amp settings. When I record through the amp it sounds OK for the most part but sounds really "distorted" with heavy tongue flutters and shakes.
Right now I've got the following settings:
Bass: cranked all the way to +
Trebel: ~3 from the -
Mid: right in the middle between + and -
Gain: cranked all the way to +
Compression Button: turned on
Amplifier Setting: set to Mic
I understand there is a lot of preference here but I'm just looking for some good starting points and some recommendations on how and what to adjust.
Thanks,
Ryan
Enjoyed this thorough review, and agree that the Champ 20 puts out a lot of sound for less than $100 new. It's a modeling amp, and the price for performance ratio with that technology is high. (Chips and the circuits they run on are cheaper than tubes.) It's a little disappointing that only one of the amp models really sounds good with harp, but a "real" harp amp has one basic sound too.
That's not a Microcube you've got there; it's a Microcube BASS amp. The amp models are all bass amps. (Granted that one is a Bassman model; the amp is still set up to reproduce bass.) You may want to consider replacing it with the Microcube for guitar, which will give you more definition in the midrange (where you need it most). The amp has been discontinued, but there are plenty of them out there in good condition for cheap. You won't have a problem finding a usable setup on the Microcube guitar amp.
