Hey - cool to see you've
Hey - cool to see you've joined! Yeah, this site's great. Really systematic, solid and reliable instruction. I've seen a lot of transcripts in books and on the Net which give a pretty good idea of what someone's playing but a lot of the time I'm thinking, 'They're missing something there' or 'That doesn't sound exactly like the riff I heard.' The stuff on this site is accurate and includes all the cool subtleties I could hear but didn't know how to make - the slaps and pulls, etc. Anyway, thanks for your comment and glad you've signed up!

This tune starts as a simple concept but builds up nicely and you've succeeded in making the whole piece quite interesting. You also show some great tone. Well done.
Thanks
Thanks for your comments, guys. Just thought of something else that may help anyone who, like me, struggles to notate: another thing I did was work out a bunch of licks based around the main theme and write those down. Then I recorded the first chorus on Audacity, listened to it back, changed bits, etc. Then I recorded the next verse, and so on. I did this till I'd stitched together the whole thing bit by bit, adding new tracks to Audacity each time - so most of it was 'notated' that way, on the computer rather than on paper. Then I learnt the whole thing through and finally recorded the last version straight through, trying to chuck in a few improvised bits.

Nice composition. The head draws you in and isn't in your face... the whole song has a nice floating quality to it. Nice job.

Good to see you post this and glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with the notation thing. I like the tone you were getting in places - keep that stuff growing!! Good solid theme and rhythmic pattern that were maintained. This stuff really shows us what we have to work on especially given we are our own worse critics. Congratulations!!
