nice, original sound
I've never heard anything close to this, great job! Those cigar box guitars look like fun. What do you get out of having two tuned differently? and are you switching between them during the song? Please tell me they are horribly hard to play, or else I'll go out an get one right away! Thanks, Bob
thanks
well there 3 stringers so one has higher strings than the other so you get a little bit of a different tone,Ive only played them for about a month, but i have been playing guitar for 18 years, but never slide so i dont know if there easy or not really,i have recorded 4 songs with the open G tuning that each sounds different, but its a challenge to come up with something different each song,Someone who has the exsperience with them is able to use a variety of tunings, that i havent firgured out yet,but i do like the challenge of trying to come up with something new with what i can do with 1tuning i use Open G,as i get better i hope to be able to exspand on options,They have alot better players and songs and free plans to build one on Cigarboxnation.com there making a comeback and add some harp and you can creat a cool blues vibe with them.
Cool, gritty stuff. With this
Cool, gritty stuff. With this and your YouTube vids, you're definitely building up a distinctive sound.
thanks
thanks its different but im wanting to learn how to at least sometimes play more distinct ,right on the money target notes where 1 note can sound bettter than a bunch of notes,so i can sound like im not noodling, like i do sometimes. the last couple songs i heard you do,was the right notes not to much nothing wasted right on the target,Im thinking this course will help me there from the 1st lesson it seems to kind of teach that, but at the same time i dont want to lose the ability to just play without really thinking to hard and go with feel,Its a middle ground im hoping to achieve here hopefully:-)
cool authentic sounds! Harp
cool authentic sounds! Harp used well for background rhythm - I would have liked to hear it in a solo chorus in a 'wailing' mood to match the rest of the song. Interesting stuff!!
Gary Smith's Minor Mambo
Hi David,
What great rhythms and riffs this piece has! I'm really enjoying working on this song. Will your chorus instructions on this song remain on the website, I'd hate to see it disappear!
Hats off to Gary Smith on this one and again what a great job you've done David. Am I in harmonica heaven or what?

I got to go
I like it... very blues... very earthy... very deep. Experiment with blues scale a bit. What you play on the harp is nice, and it can be even more bluesy when choosing more notes from the blues scale. Check out the lesson on the site for minor playing, that focuses on the blues scale. Nice job!
thanks David
thanks ,I will do that,I really like the school you have here it has alot to offer.
