Good bash!
Good one Barney! I've been working on Juke myself lately and planning a first live performance this weekend- your upload has got me enthused! What is your recording setup? Your technique is sound but the signal sounds a little dry and I think would benefit from some effects. Having said that, it's great to hear such a fine, precise example!

Hows Juke coming along Rob?
Juke
Hi Barney. I've played Juke at a couple of gigs now. The first time, I turned and nodded to the bass player to take a bass solo after the chorus that starts with the soft 4 draw. We'd discussed it without actually trying it but unfortunately he took my signal as the ending of the number and we had a bit of a early car crash finish! 2nd time round I'd just played another number with the Bb harp and forgot to switch to an A! It took the other guys a chorus or 2 to figure out what key I'd started in. No recording as of yet which is probably just as well considering as it seems like Juke has become my bogus instrumental! Could be third time lucky though and we have a gig this Friday- I'll keep you posted. I certainly enjoy playing along to the Sho blues jam track :O)

How did it go Rob? Was Juke a success this time around?
Hey Barney! Juke, like many
Hey Barney! Juke, like many numbers, has become something that I play in my own sort of way whereby I have the main ideas and riffs down but usually play a bit differently every time. That can be interpreted either as a sloppy approach or putting your own spin on things- I call it the latter! I think the problem with Juke (for me) is playing with a band that doesn't typically play the kind of groove that suits the track. It's certainly in the repertoire though and might be better served with a newly formed trio I'm part of. Hope your studies are going well- where in the UK are you situated- I am up in Hull.

Hi Rob, I'd like to hear your own spin on Juke, I am too much of a perfectionist and it may force me out of my comfort zone hearing a classic with a different slant. Good news with the new trio, what style are you going to perform? What happend to your old band as you were very good together and complemented each other well. The studying is not going to well as I am currently building up my reportoir as I want to start or join a band locally. I have never performed live yet and feel if I don't soon it will cause me problems later. Once I have learned some of the classics then I will get back to studying the theory and improvisation etc. I am always looking for new material to learn so would be glad of any suggestions you may have, crowd pleaser stuff. I am based in Seaford on the south coast near Brighton but travel about a lot with work.

Hi Rob
Thanks agian for your comments they are always welcomed. Now as far as recording set up is concerned I used (don't laugh) a Logitech USB micriophone which was borrowed from my daughters "Guitar Hero" and plugged this direct into the computer. I would welcome any recommendations you have to get a good Chicago style sound when recording. I do have a Fender Super Champ X 2 and a Shure Green bullet but can't (don't know how to) connect this to the computer to get a clean sound. I have tried placing a mic in front of the speaker but this does not work too well. How is Juke coming along are you going to record and share? Good luck with the its first outing this weekend.
On the back of your amp there
On the back of your amp there is a "LINE OUT" connector. You should take a stero cable (6,3 mm stero jack connector on one side and 3,5 mm stero jack connector on the other side). This cable should connect the "LINE OUT" of your amp to the "LINE IN" on the computer audio card, or if it doens't have one you connect it to the "MIC" microphone input. I think your computer should have audio connectors.
Thanks LuckyHarp I will try
Thanks LuckyHarp I will try that!!

recording set up
Hi Barney. My own experience with recording is very limited- for previous bluesharmonica.com competitions I have had a friend do the recording for me on an 8 track device of which I have little understanding. Other stuff I've recorded has been organised and mixed by others although recent submissions in the share section of the site have been recorded just using either Ipad or Iphone (but, again, not by me) and sound OK. I would suggest starting a thread in the gear section of the site asking for advice as I'm sure that other members will be able to help. Come to think of it, this would also be useful information for me! Alternatively, there are some lessons on software for recording in the equipment section which I haven't really studied either but might give you the information you need.
Thanks for your feedback Rob
Thanks for your feedback Rob I will try LuckyHarps suggestion and if that fails I will try the equipment section.
Very nice!
I had pleasure listening your technique. My compliments :)
