Snake Oil - good job Mate!
Greetings mmarquez from 'down under'
great job, and I would like the backing without harp, but I'm fairly new to this stuff, only really got going through the pandemic. I guess I'll get into bandlab at some stage, or something like it, but would you mind sending me am MP3 in the meantime? john@mackleyhq.com
many thanks

Hey John,
Sure, no problem. You can grab it as an mp3 from this link.
I recommend you get it soon since I don't know when/if I will delete the file (not very useful and it's taking 7MB off my Drive quota).
BTW, I only noticed your message because I lurk on the forums, unfortunately we don't get notified when someone posts on a "share recording" topic (or any forum topic, AFAIK). Just letting you know in case you post a comment in the future and no one replies.
The track is pretty repetitive, but it seems to do the work. I hope you enjoy it and put it to good use, I'm looking forward to hearing your version ;)
Cheers,
M.
Well Done
Hi!! I really enjoyed your version of this beatiful instrumental.
I would like to play it but I'm not able to produce a backing track for it.
Can you send me the backing track you made?
If it would be possible, please send it to dano.amati69@gmail.com
Hi.
Danilo.
Just published it in BandLab
Thanks! Sure thing.
Instead of giving you the mixed-down backing track, I published (though unlisted) a newer version in BandLab so you can fork it and fidget with it as much as you want. Then you can make your own mixdown with the effects, volume etc. that you want, remove or replace tracks etc. Maybe you want to spend some time to make the midi guitar and bass more realistic (I didn't really spend any time on that), use different instruments, etc. There's also a couple of unfinished tracks included: a track with the melody using midi sax (about half way finished), a track with some (quite bad) accompaniment fills I added using midi guitar and a track which tries to transcribe the accompaniment played by the guitarist Danilo Simi on this live performance. These are all muted.
If you don't want to or don't know how to use BandLab and prefer a mixdown MP3, let me know and I can make one for you.
By the way, other people have instead used the original recording provided by David and removed the harp using Audacity's Center Pan Remover plugin. It seems to do the work fine, if you prefer to use the original accompaniment instead.
A note on the tempo: my backing track (and covers) is at 120bpm, while the original is played at a wee less than 122bpm, so you can't easily mix and match them.
Cheers!
M.
Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for sharing this! For people who are not aware how to use BendLab, I've made mp3, you could download it here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v69AYB2MyA5ivaSah2k7NkHWtllpwgBF/view?usp=sharing
Thanks
Thank you so much, I never used BandLab, but I will try to.
Best regards.
Danilo
wonderful amp and mic tone/ good composition
i was surprised how good your tone is from the amp and mic
the composition remained something good enough to memorize and continue to use
tommy
Thanks!
It's funny, because I keep changing my mind on how good or bad I sound through the Honey Tone. I recorded (this is the 2nd or 3rd cut) and thought "sounds pretty good". Then listened to it later and thought "this is awful". Then listened to it later and said "it's actually not so bad".
I think the amp is a big factor here. The mic is the green bullet, so although it's not as bassy at the bulletini, if should be fine.
The Honey Tone is definitely the only amp I'm going to use for now, since I just don't have the space or time to use a tube amp (I practice at night inside my car) so it doesn't make sense for me to get one to get dust in the garage, but when I listen to Steve's original and then mine, boy do I want to have a better amp. Sure thing, there's a lot of technique difference there too, but I think my amp sounds really tinny in comparison and that has to pay a big part in the tone difference I hear.
The tune is great. I've neglected it for so long I'm ashamed of it. I should have learnt it long ago. Quite simple technique-wise but still tricky at times with syncopation. There's a live version of it on YouTube which is awesome, there's a guitar solo that I was trying to transcribe by ear and record as midi into the backing track, but I gave up half way. It would make for a nice cover with a little bit of accompaniment playing, if I could get the solo recorded with a proper guitar (BandLab's midi guitars don't sound great in my opinion)
Thanks for listening!
Nice!
I like your vibrato/tremolo.
Thank you!
Thank you!
