Slow videos
Hi David, thanks for your post on my thread about slow video, in the 'General' forum. I was just posting there in attempt to gauge whether the problem was specific to me or a broader group. As you will have seen, it didn't draw many comments. I expect if others were having trouble they would have chimed in. Although not many post regularly, there seem to be plenty people browse the forum.
So I conclude it's not widespread.
If I just used the lesson videos it's questionable whether I would have noticed a problem. When I watch a lesson I usually interact with it, stop, start, rewind. In those circumstances the problem doesn't really manifest so much. It's when I'm trying to watch contributor clips and interviews that it is really noticeable. So if people aren't watching those things they may not think they have a problem. But even through those filters I think I'd still have plenty of answers if it was widespread. So I expect it's about my physical location and Australian Internet speed.
I think Patricia observed the problem is worse at different times of day, as did Hank in BC. I will check at different times and see if there is a difference. I expect it is about local traffic.
Thanks to the link you provided i can see the servers for australia are mainly located in Tokyo an Singapore and they are operating normally, with no disruptions at all over the last few weeks. In terms of the internet my description of Van Dieman's Land as the end of the world is not far from the truth!
Shame though, those contributions are really great. As are the interviews. And the whole site. It's a very positive thing in my life.
This is a small problem, I don't want to detract from your wonderful achievement and I think it's probably nothing you can control at your end. I'll desist with the thread.
Thanks again,
Dave
Thanks Dave. Yes, computer issues are pain...
