Solo harmonica study 1 - Ex. 1.12
Hi David,
Re: each of the 4 measures in 1.12 that are all the same.
I don't know if I'm understanding correctly. A slap/pluck off on the 2 draw,
which sounds the 2,1
then a slap/pluck off on the 2 blow
then a slap/pluck off on the 2 draw
but the second beam of joined notes is where my biggest question is:
the 2,1 draw, and again a 2,1 draw
do I do a slap/ pluck off on each, or just the first one?
and then finish that measure with a slap/pluck off on the 2,1?
When you and Ryan play it sounds so awesome.
I really, really appreciate your help.
p.s. I need to do my LOA for sure...
Patricia
Good afternoon Patricia. To play this example follow these steps. Each step is a half beat.
- Play the 2 draw
- Take your tongue off to sound holes 1 and 2 draw
- Place your tongue back on the harmonica to play 2+
- Play 2 draw
- Take your tongue off to sound holes 1 and 2 draw
- Keep your tongue off and play holes 1 and 2 draw again (use a separate breath)
- Place your tongue back on the harmonica to play 2+
- Take your tongue off to sound holes 1 and 2 draw
You can slap the single notes if you wish (this is taught in Tongue Block Study 2). Best wishes on your study... this is my favorite example in the study.
