Hi David in Solo Study 1: Working with a Metronome Eighth Notes: Straight, Swing and Triplet you mention on the " click my Met clicks 2 lights" you hit the Blow and when it clicks again draw 2 lights I'm practicing slow 53 bpm and set at 4 beats. some times I can get the 2 lights on the blow and vice versa only ex 1.2 is what I'm starting on. I don't know if I should do 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 or 1 e and 2 e I'm Lost
Thanks Harplayer
Good evening Harplayer. You will play two draws per click, then two blows per click, and repeat. Playing the swing rhythm your first draw will be on the click (downbeat) and the second draw will be on the upbeat. Your blow will be on the next downbeat (the next click) and then the next blow will be on the upbeat.
In the case of Ex. 1.2 (and all of our swing rhythms examples... which is most of them). Downbeat notes receives 2/3 of the beat and the upbeat is the last 3rd of the beat. You count it as 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a.
Does this clarify it for you?
