SPAH (Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica)
The annual SPAH convention is now open for registration at www.spah.org. The event runs Aug 13 - 17 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This will be my first year to attend. How many of you harmonica lovers can I expect to see there?
Joe runs the daily teach-in, with a ballroom full of experts and teachers, each with their own table. David Barrett will be there, and I'll be participating for the first time in several years, as well. You can walk around the room and choose to listen and ask questions of whomeveryou choose - it's a giant all-you-can-eat buffet of harmoncia learning!
But the teach-in is only one of the many attractions.
During the day, in addition to the teach-in, there are seminars, an open mic in a high traffic area, small hallway jams, afternoon concrts, and the vendor room, with the major harmonica manufacturers present along with the smaller specialty makers.
During the evening there are concerts and after-hours jams in different msical styles - blues, jazz, bluegrass, country, and sometimes other styles as well.
I think there's a possibility you might enjoy it.
I'll be there with many of my friends who are the baddest of the bad!!!!!! Joe Filisko
