Student Concert
Couple of quick questions. I really like the idea of the student concert. The only thing is not being an actual student of yours I'm not participating in your student concert :(. What suggestions might you have about how to get some experience playing with a band and in front of other people. I know that my own skill set isn't large enough to try joining a band, but I'm really interested in trying it out in an environment where people understand that I'm a beginner/student and are there simply to support that role.
Also my next question is I've infered that your student concert is approaching soon. If I happened to be around the area is it open to the public (for attending not playing), or is it really only for your students?
Thanks for all you do, I'm having a ton of fun learning the Harmonica.
Joey
Hello Joey. Your local blues jam session is the place to go. Speak to the leader of the jam and share with him/her that you're a newbie and would like to try one of your songs with the band. Otherwise they may place you with other musicians and have you play along with one of their songs. This is okay, but at your skill level you really want to play a song that you've worked out ahead of time... it's too song for you to improvise.
You're welcome to come watch, absolutely. The date is October 1st, from 5pm to 9pm at the Poor House Studio in San Jose, CA. It will be great to meet you, and any other students from BluesHarmonica.com that can make it.
