technique or style I can't pin down
I have question. I'm a member of a gospel harmonica group on Facebook and on two occassions I've heard something in technipe or style that I can't quite pin down. it's some version of single notes and chords, but it's not a slap. It sounds like maybe a single note ending its duration with a pull to the chord but the same technique is ussed on almost every note played.
I wish I could share an example of what I mean as my desc seems sorely lacking. my best hope is that someone recognizes the sound and can tell me how it's played. it seems to work really well on faster songs.

Seems to me he's alternating between chording (playing full chords) and slapping the melody. That's a common technique in all styles afaik. See the "Solo harmonica" lesson where David has some examples which are 12 bar blues alternating between chords and melody to achieve that "two harmonica" effect by yourself.
Another example in a different style (Tarantella) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NQT84DeKCHY

This technique is called vamping. Take a look at some of Joe Filisko's videos for more information
Could you post a link to a recorded example of what you're talking about?
