"throat bending"
Hi David,
I've been watching an online discussion where a bunch of harp players are talking about bending. a number assert they do it with their throat and that their tongue is only incidentally involved. i'm sure i've seen questions to you about this and you have been very clear the throat is not involved. some insist that at first they used their tongue but over time the throat took over. from my own experience i think its likely that this is really just about perception and it is likely the tongue is making the same shape but the user is only aware of the movement in the "throat" (being the part of the tongue which contracts to make the shape. i figure you are the expert on this though. is bending all about the shape and position of the tongue in the mouth? does this ever change? should i be aspiring to "throat bending"?
Thanks
Dave
You're correct, perception.
