I've been getting left sided TMJ pain while doing the agility exercise. Is there something I'm doing wrong that's causing this pain? In you experience, does it get better when the joint gerts used to a different position?

Thanks.

Hello prsnrs. I'm sorry to

Hello prsnrs. I'm sorry to hear about the pain. What exercises are you exactly speaking of? It will help me to answer your question once I know the movement involved in the exercise.

Hello leona. Finding your own

Hello leona. Finding your own way of course works... we all approach playing the instrument in different ways. In regards to moving your jaw forward... it's not necessary. Open mouth. Instert harmonica. That's it.

I assume you're speaking of

I assume you're speaking of Tongue Block Study 1, Exercise 1.1. You should not feel any pain, because the jaw does not move, nor does it require any muscle tension. I'm assuming that you're unintentionally moving your jaw. Practice this exercise in front of a mirror and work on not moving your jaw, only your tongue. Also work on playing more relaxed... tensing up when trying hard to do something for the first time is normal, but in this case, it's causing pain, so you'll want to focus on keeping things relaxed.

I'm happy to help prsnrs.

I'm happy to help prsnrs. This is a common issue (the movement of the jaw)... the mirror is your friend.
