Hi David,
I am a complete beginner. I can play a single note 4 blow, but I can’t move up to a single note 5 blow. I can only do it by taking my tongue off the harmonica and then moving up and putting my tongue back on the harmonica. How do I do this properly?
Regards
Lee

Hello Lee, welcome to the harmonica. My guess is that you're pushing hard with your tongue and/or lips. The key is to use a very light touch on the face of the harmonica with your tongue and lips. If you feel like you need to push your tongue on hard to cover enough holes, use more of the top of your tongue (bring the harmonica deeper in the mouth and tilt the face downwards slightly), which is wider and more easily covers the holes needed.
I cover this in the intro lesson (Blues Harmonica Fundamentals), as well as Hob's https://www.bluesharmonica.com/contributor/hob_bosold and Sharon's https://www.bluesharmonica.com/contributor/sharon-barrett lessons on the site.
