Tongue blocking question!
Hi David!I have been practicing tongue blocking as you suggested. I already feel an improvement of my tone even though I can't play as fluent as I do with the puckering technique so far. The question is: it is normal that I tend to put the harmonica (chromatic and diatonic as well) a little bit tilted to the right side of my mouth/face? I know some player do this but I don't know if they do that for the same reason as me.It is OK to play like this? Is the most comfortable way for me to play tongue blocking.
This is why I love this forum! Many times I find answers to my own question before asking! Thanks to both of you Norlo28 and David.
That's great.
Yeah, it will take time to have the same facility as puckering, but you'll get there.
Yes, bringing the harmonica closer to your right cheek is common. This is to help close off the opening of the upper holes of the harmonica. The more closed off those holes are, the more sound is captured into your cup. This is good for a good acoustic Wa Wa (closing and opening of your cup for effect) and for amplified playing (where a closed cup is key for volume, distortion level, and bass).
