Treble and bass control on Ampeg GVT5-110
Skip:
A few years back I bought an Ampeg GVT5-110 as my first amp. I could never figure out the treble and bass settings. Each has a circle at the 12 o'clock position and can be rotated CW to the 5 o'clock and CCW to the 7 o'clock. There are no numbers. The manual doesn't explain them well. I've fiddled with them, but can't seem to discern an optimal setting. Would you happen to know more detail on the treble and bass adjustment?
This amp seems to work OK practicing at home and at smaller clubs. I have miked it at an outdoor show with no issues. I am using an Ultimate SM57 microphone. Don't know if you'd recommend any additional effects or eventually upgrading my amp.
Thanks
Brian
Hello Brian- Thanks for writing and sorry for the slow reply.....
I would say that your basic problem is that the tone circuit of the amp doesn't have much effect in in the harp's frequency range. Harp tone is basically in the middle frequencies and the "Baxendall" tone circuit of that amp is one which boosts and cuts at the high and low frequencies while leaving the midrange alone. I wouldn't suggest modifying the amp, but a better speaker could be a cost-effective upgrade.
