Tremolo on bent notes
Wed, 03/24/2021 - 23:10
Hi David
I am getting on ok with my draw bending and have made some progress with blow bending holes 7, 8 and 9 but I am really struggling to use tremolo on any bent note. Do you have any tips on how I can do this? My draw tremolo on unbent notes is coming on reasonably but I am a bit stuck when it comes to the bent ones.
Thanks in advance
Simon
Hello Simon. The key is to relax everything in the bending process. Many new benders (for their first years of bending), tense the surrounding muscles (jaw, neck, throat, etc.)...this will hinder the tremolo process. Work on bending ONLY moving your tongue (and with as little tension as possible in the tongue as well). After reps with this, focus on also keeping your throat as relaxed as possible while you bend and try the throat tremolo. Work on this for a couple of weeks and report back.
