Trouble bending hole 1 on A harp
Sat, 06/19/2021 - 19:43
I have trouble reaching the bottom of the 1 hole bend on the A harp. In other words, the half-step bend is sharp, not in tune. Same trouble on a G harp. It seems to require more tongue movement than I can get.
I can get the full bend on the 1 hole of the C harp and higher keys.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Hello mtnhank. Experiment with these, they may do the trick for you...
1) Drop your jaw slightly as you go to the deepest part of the bend (this will make the mouth cavity larger, and thus allow you to bend lower reeds like the 1)
2) As you raise the back of your tongue, lower the middle (the tip is on the harmonica, so we're speaking of the middle here)
