V chord in 12 bars blues on a C harp
Hi David,Hope you're doing fine. I have been using the 5 hole draw(which is a F note) as I play through the V chord. However, you mentioned in your vids that a natural F wouldnt be appropriate since its not F# that forms the traid. So my question is can I still used the 5 hole draw, the F note as I play through the V chord? Thanks
Yes, just avoid the 5 draw... play the 4 draw D below it or 6 draw A above it. Yes, the 2' F# is the one we all really emphasis (the coolest V Chord playing is found on holes 1 through 4).
Hello ngtungyi. I am well, thank you... I hope the same for you.
The F is the flat-3rd of the V Chord. This is a dissonant/bluesy note. If you want it to be dissonant/bluesy, then go for it. If you'r looking for the note to melt into the chord (not be noticed... it's just a note that sounds nice), then play the F#.
Both are important sounds... it's up to you to decide what your goal is for that particular passage.
