Viewing Videos on IPhone/IPad
I made a decision to purchase a MacBook Pro instead of an IPad because I cannot view the videos from BluesHarmonica on my IPhone and (from what I heard) the IPad.SInce then I have downloaded VLC to view other video formats but it still doesn't give me viewing access to the videos on this site. I really want to have this access on the road. The MacBook is working just fine but......
Is there an app that will give me that ability? What format is being used that the Apple guys don't want us to have access to? Has anyone found any work around?
Many thanks for any responses - even if its "tough luck" ;-)
Take a look at this:
Adobe releases Wallaby, experimental Flash to HTML 5 conversion tool
And this...
Adobe's Wallaby hints at cracks in Flash armor
Still doesn't look good for the future of Flash, though...
I've used a similar work-around... I download the bluesharmonica.com vids to my computer, then use a media converter to convert the video to a format that my iphone will play... It's a really slow process, and I haven't found a great media converter... I was using Moyea for a while, but it stopped working and I can't figure out why (even after I paid for it, when my free trial ran out. wtf?!?!)
I don't understand why bluesharmonica.com doesn't use the same format as youtube so that we can tune in from our iphones. I squeeze in a lot of my harmonica practice in my car... I would be soooooooooooo happy to see this website switch to an iphone friendly format! Any idea if that will ever happen?
Can people watch bluesharmonica.com vids on Android phones???
Hank, I suspect you've heard that Apple and Flash don't really mix. The iPhone and iPad are Flash-free zones. There are some apps you can use if the device has been jail-broken. Do a Google search and you'll find a few. You might look at a legal app called Cloud Browse. You can also try something called Skyfire. There's also something called iSwifter out there as well. I think it might also depend, however, on how these videos are embedded on this website to know if any of these apps would work.
The best bet would be to download them and try them (if they are free at least). But I wouldn't hold my breath. Apple isn't the only tablet to shun Flash. The new tablets by Samsung and Motorola don't support it either. I have a feeling that Flash isn't long for this world if these tablet units really start to catch on.
