wax paste
Hello Winslow Yerxa am working on a CBH 2016 chromatic for someone. And this is the first time I have ever messed with one. I was google searching wind saver problems. And I found the forum Chromatic Note Sticking. The person in this forum was having some of the same problems with his chromatic am noticing in the one am working on.
And as I was reading this forum you told the person so use construction paper and making strips. To clean in between the wind savers. Then you mention to use a paste wax to put along the edge of the reed slot. You also said this paste wax can be picked up at any local grocery and hardware store. What type of paste wax are you talking about using? And could bees wax work? And am assuming when I apply the wax I don't have to remove any of the wind savers.
The paste wax fix was invented by Vern Smith, a retired engineer.
The wax must be buffed smooth so that it is gloddy and hard and water beads up. So beeswax might not work. Paste wax is the usual name for the type of wax you apply to a floor, and then polish to a smooth, hard finish. Floor wax usually contains various volatile chemicals that will outgas overnight.
I seldom use it.
