Who Should I Listen To?
Hi David...Happy Labor Day,
I'm starting to learn songs from albums (Spotify actually). So far I'm working on 2 songs from George Harmonica Smith doing Little Walter. I am probably somewhere in the intermediate level range, although I have a good ear because I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I also have software to slow the song down. Can you recommend any players/albums that would be good for me to try and copy, without getting over my head? Thanks...Fran
wardtaylore's comment is a true one... the study songs will get you there the fastest, and with the least amount of headache. With that said, let me list some songs in place of artists that are both famous and approachable.
"Sharp Harp" George Smith
"Easy" Walter Horton
"Scratch My Back" Slim Harpo
"Juke," "Blue Midnight," "Sad Hours" and "Off The Wall" Little Walter
"Blues for Big Nate" Jerry Portnoy
This is a good list to get you started. All of these are fun songs that are not over the top.
Have fun!
Hi, I'm not David but I can say: just work through the course material on the site first. Once you get the majority down, you'll find out who you like and you'll be able to play anything under the sun. But the big four are Big Walter, Little Walter, Sonny Boy 2, and George Harmonica Smith. There's also a forum on here for recommendations. Hope that helps.
