Because these are the lines

Because these are the lines bass players play. They happen to work well on the harmonica as well, and sound cool, so we steel them.

Bass players do

Bass players do accompainement playing, don't they? Does it mean these lines should be used as accompainement instead of solo? They sound pretty solo-ish to me...Or.. is it about the tone? Does it mean these lines should be played on lower-key harmonica?I guess I just don't understand the role of "bass" in a band.

The bass player outlines the

The bass player outlines the notes of the chord... they help to create (along with the piano and guitar) the chord structure of the 12 Bar Blues. They are in the rhythm section, so yes, they are playing the accompaniment role. You can use any key of harmonica, but yes, it tends to sound best on lower keys, such as the Low-F, G, A, etc. You will learn bass lines in-deph in Accompaniment Study 7.
