Born in The Bronx, grew up on Long Island and have been in the Great Pacific Northwest since 1984 when Uncle Sam decided this would be the place I would love the most. I've been wood-sheddin' since my beginning here on Bluesharmonica.com a little over a year ago. Having a blast thanks to David.

Starting TB few days ago, when I discovered this site, and enjoying it a Lot!
Great lessons, very ilustrative, thanks David!
Fort Lauderdale to be exact. Near the beach? Yup! The Blues down here are well represented with mutiple choices from excellent local muscians (many Harp players) every weekend. Skipped seeing Lucky Peterson to see Dennis Gruenling tear it up for 3 hours straight (ok not straight, they took a 5 minute break at midnight) at the Blues Cruise pre party this past Saturday, played my harp the whole way home! And this weekend....Room full of blues!
Playing since May 2014
playing 10 years ago for about 3 or 4 years. Now back playing for ermmmmmm about 30 mins lol
Southern Ontario ner Lake Erie.
Hanau is located 12 miles east of Frankfurt. Hanau is the town of the Grimm brothers, the narrators of fairytale like snow white!
I joint blues harmonica.com 1 year ago and I love it!
This is my second try studying the harmonica. It's a little bit challenging for me because my english is poor. But this is a good choice i guess. The videos are great and i am pleased that i can understand David. I am sure i can made it with ur relief.

Edit: Weimar is in the middle of germany, and its famous for its poets Goethe and Schiller and for the Weimar Constitution.
My brother and I were both given a harmonica two years ago at Christmas. He did join the site for a month then quit playing. As for me, my harps was stiil new in box until I decided to learn about six months ago, and I have managed to play a few American folk songs with clear single notes and all the bends, though not perfect yet, using the puckering embouchure. I know tongue blocking is a lot harder, and might takes years to practice and perfected, but i am willing to do whatever it takes. Step 1 here I come! Thank you David for such a great site, the best of its kind!

Wife and I are retired full time RV'rs and have spent the winter in Fredericksburg Texas, US. Plan on touring Colorado, the Grand Canyon and Indiana this year. Fredericksburg has a wonderful music scene and I promised a group of RV'n musicians that I would accompany them next winter on the harmonica. I'm 71, run marathons as a hobby and bought my first harmoninca on Jan 30th of this year. Really impressed with this site...
I am an American citizen but I live in Penang, Malaysia about 2 hours from the Thai border. I go to school here and been playing about two years now.
I'm originally from Chile, but I have lived away from my country since I was a small child, and I have been living in San Francisco for the last 20 years.
I've been playing since my Dad bought me a tremolo harmonica on a business trip in Germany in the early 1980s. I have been a competent player for many years, but my playing has improved tremendously in the last year and specially since I've been taking lessons here.
I grew up in the Elephant and Castle area of London. Moved to Dartford, on the borders of London, some years ago. I have been trying to play harp for a few years but I have jumped around between various books (including Dave Barrett, Tom Ball, John Sebastian, Steve Baker and Don Baker) and videos by Adam Gussow and Lee Sankey. I decided that the best way for me to study is to pick a comprehensive training package that leads you through different levels in a structured way. I am enjoying this course so far and I will stick at it until I reach what ever limit I am capable of.
I was born and raised in Ohio, but now live just South of Nashville, TN, USA

I've found this site several days ago, and I am amazed with the quality of the instruction. Congrats, David & Cia, the work you are doing is amazing.
Cheers
Loving this site! I started lessons here in January, and have learned a lot. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me. As Dave says, enjoy the process!
Hello to all. I joined yesterday .
From Lisbon Maine.
A Beautiful little town about 40 minutes north of Santa Rosa, California.
Hey everyone my name is Dan and I'm from Poughkeepsie NY. Got 9 days left on my 30 day free trial THIS SITE IS GREAT! I'll stick around. Just starting to learn how to TB. Prior to this I've been learning off of YouTube which is great but i couldn't put anything in proper order. That being the case In pucker style I can draw bend and blow bend every available note. I can even overblow 6, but couldn't play happy birthday if you payed me. Finally a place where I can be comfortably confused and rest assured knowing there is structure in the lesson plans. Thank You Mr. Barrett
A very small village, Leman sea at 200m from my desk, France on the other side of the sea. Just 20 min distance to Montreux Jazz. Tonight a very 50th special one: Charles lloyd in Concert 50 years after his first concert right here in 1967...
My little village is 40 km east of Stuttgart. I have joined harmonica workshops in Hohner-Town Trossingen for some years. I enjoy the lessons with David very much.
From Wales UK. Started with my first harmonica 69 years ago but haven't bothered for many years until I saw a few brilliant players on YouTube which made purchased a new small harmonica that came with a month free lessons from David Barretts.
Native Nashvilian. Got my first harp from my great uncle when I was 9. Played around with the harp in the 70's, the old Horner Blues Harps which I still have. Spent more time with guitar, cause everybody plays guitar in Nashville, and didn't pick the harmonica back up until 6 months ago. Blueshamonica.com is the best thing since sliced bread for learning the harmonica.
Well, I think I'm the only Portuguese.
South Texas, completely new at Harmonica.
I live out in the sticks, a few miles west of Fairfax, CA, a half-hour northwest of San Francisco. Been playing around with harps since the 1980s, and started studying with David a few years ago, but never quite developed good practice habits. Been learning about "deliberate practice" recently, and ready to give it another go, so starting into the levels of acheivment.
Looks like this thread is going to outlive us all.
Montville, New "Joisey"
A self taught puckerer but now re-learning with tongue blocking. I travel all over the world with work and try to find the nearest blues bar wherever I go. Also play in a blues/rock band with a bunch of mates back home.
Been playing on and off for around a year now, dont know that much. Really hoping that i can learn some more about how to improve my skills!
I play the Powerbender Tuning from Brendan Power and love it. It just makes sense to me without being too radically different (bottom 4 holes are the same, all the holes allow you to draw bend, same breath pattern throughout). It's kind of like Richter in holes 1-4, PowerChromatic in holes 4-8, and a Pentatonic Scale in holes 8-10).
I've been messing around with the harp for a few years, not really knowing what it's about - just blowing and drawing. I started to practice seriously in May of 2016, exploring 6 positions in the pentatonic scale (1,2,3,4,5,12) and learning to get good control at bends along with a deep tone. I just joined this site a few days ago and now I'm ready to start over and tongue-block everything - seems like the way to go. I've got a long journey ahead.
I only plan to use keys G (my favorite) and A because I like playing with acoustic guitar players (G and A key harps seem to go well with the guitar) and would rather spend my money on a few good quality harps that work well with a guitar rather than have many cheap harmonicas that I have to maintain and carry around. I also don't like keys higher than A (to shrill) or lower than G (to hard to play). That's why I'm trying to master 6 different positions - so I can get the most out of the two keys (G and A cover CAGED major Keys and ABEC#F# minor keys in the 6 postions). I also travel a lot and one of the appeals of the harmonica is that it can go with me wherever I go.
I'm not a blues pureist, but I want to learn the blues to have a good foundation.
Norwegian living in Helsinki, Finland. Lived in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, for 20 years. I have pucker for 40 years, now about time to learn tongueblocking to improve my playing.
Must be the newest guy.
Hallidays Point NSW Australia. Just did a post under General titled Kick start.
Orangevale, California.
Been playing for a little over 3 years. Love this site and its organization. Very motivating to me. I was a music teacher (now retired) and have turned to the harp and vocal as my main instruments of choice nowadays. I do still play guitar and sing and am working to play with a rack. I do spend winters in Mexico, where I am able to escape and practice with fierce focus.
